Poll Began: 9-6-04, 12:30 PM EST Poll Ended: 10-6-04, 12:30 PM EST Duration: of 4 weeks total. Poll Main Question: There was a cut Jitterbug scene. For more info on this click on the Facts link on the Navigation menu. There you will find pictures, the script and the original music. The Jitterbug was a pink furry bug that once it bit you made you dance.
It was a long lengthy scene and cost a fortune. The producer's thought
that it was too long and removed it. They also thought that it would "age
the film". The reason they thought it would age the film is because
Dorthy and her three friends all start square dancing. There are other
cut scenes that would be nice to have put into the film. But this poll
is only for the infamous Jitterbug scene. Which sadly no longer exist.
There is home video footage of parts of the scene and with the pictures,
script and also the original music you can get a very good idea of
what it would have been like. Revised Question (question that is inside little voting box): If the Jitterbug scene still existed would you have wanted it in the movie? Total Number of Votes: 28 Results: Of Course - 67.9%
Summery: Interesting results. I personally think the movie is great the way it is, and if the scene existed in it's entirety to only be a "special feature". I just don't think that the square dancing scene would have done anything for the movie. It was also quite long, if you have the DVD you can see some home video footage of the scene. However that's my opinion and as you can see the majority of people would like to have that scene in the movie. I'm kind of curious how many of those people actually seen the home video rehursal footage and listened to the Jitterbug song. |
